Church Center at the United Nations
Willet Hauser Architectural Glass® designed, fabricated and installed a ground-breaking work of faceted glass combined with an exterior coated metal sculpture on the facade of the Church Center at the United Nations in New York City, circa 1962-63. Created for the Women’s Division of the General Board of Church and Society of the United Methodist Church, the Chapel glass and sculpture is located at street level and measures a staggering 25’ wide by 13’ high and is composed of eighteen panels of one-inch faceted glass on the interior. The exterior is a series of three dimensional hollow aluminum panels integrated with faceted glass. The mural depicts Man’s Search for Peace.
