NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority Arts For Transit
One of Willet Hauser’s most unique projects utilizing the work of artists of another medium is the studio’s work with the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority Arts for Transit Program. The program involved the invitation of neighborhood artists working in various media to compete for projects in nearby stations. The studio was approached by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in 1996 to fabricate faceted stained glass panels based on the winning designs of many of these artists. Since then, the studio has translated the artwork of local New York artists into stained glass panels installed in twenty-eight stations across eight subway lines.
