Second Baptist Church

The largest commission the studio accomplished in the 1980s was for Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. This megachurch was created to seat 6,000 people in a plan in the round with a pulpit centered in the middle of the sanctuary. Echoing the grandness of the church, the faceted glass windows Willet Hauser designed and fabricated for this sacred space are monumental in size- a skylight, composed entirely of faceted glass measures 58 feet in diameter and the two nave windows, also fabricated in faceted glass, each measure 70 feet tall by 80 feet wide.
